Each Write Awhile session is 50 minutes long. They are short to make it easy to commit to doing them regularly. The idea is to consistently produce wholly new material, not to wait for new stuff to come geysering out of you during those odd moments when you have nothing scheduled.
Each Write Awhile starts with a 10-minute reset during which we connect a positive idea to our personal writing practice. Then we free write for the next 30 minutes, with or without cameras on, in a notebook or on a device. The session ends with a 10-minute group share of our creative intentions for the week.
Write Awhile is for
Writers who want to produce new work on a regular basis (not just revise on a regular basis).
Writers who procrastinate or struggle to squeeze non-negotiable creative time into their busy schedule.
Writers who feel stuck.
New writers who haven't given themselves permission to commit to a writing ritual.
Structure, focus, and positivity. Write Awhile sessions do not devolve into chitchat (as fun as that can be), group venting, or individual showboating. We show up to honor and pursue our creative aspirations.
No more than 11, including the host.
Write Awhile operates by subscription and costs $10/week for once-weekly sessions.
